Time to GO, Baby!
February 9th, 2009 by stephanie lasure

Get Organized, Baby! This quote has floated around my brain for years. I knew someday, somewhere the moment would arrive where I could put it to use, laugh at it’s simplicity, magnetize it for my fridge and finally - send it out to the world as a key phrase for every small business owner, serial entrepreneur, home business owner or just you - sitting at your computer dreaming up the solution to global warming. Good luck with that.

The time is nigh. “Get Organized, Baby!” is my favorite movie quote, thanks to Marilyn Monroe in Niagara.

The scene is a classic, a frantic ’60’s housewife is running around a vacation cottage in Niagara Falls screaming and flailing her arms when her husband bursts in the door, grabs her by the shoulders and tosses her on the bed, and finally yells to her… “Get Organized, Baby!!” It is a hilarious quote, (at least to me and my adled brain). That image and those words are a perfect metaphor for the frantic small business. It’s time to stop flailing around.. get organized.. get busy.. and become profitable.

I believe that small businesses do not fail because an idea is bad or a location isn’t ideal, small businesses fail when there is no financial oversight, when a marketing plan consists of an outdated direct mail campaign, and there is no effort to understand or utilize the myriad of free tools the internet offers. The endless array of information, articles, textbooks, ebooks and headlines of the not-so-new “social medias” are grabbing the shoulders of every small business and yelling to them “Get Organized, Baby!”.

Get Organized (GOBaby) clients are typically ‘mom and pops’, with a strong local focus, relying on their neighborhood, town and city for their livelihood. We work with those small businesses with services that range from financial help to marketing and pr campaigns. Our role is to tone up the structure, or as I like to describe “the bones” of their business. The bones of any business are basic, yet the strategies, technologies and trends to execute, measure and succeed change constantly.

Tired of flailing? Time to GO, Baby!
